Tutoring

PRIME offers weekly tutoring sessions in courses where students self identify a need for one-one assistance or where a formation of a small study group is necessary. Also, PRIME refers students to other on-campus tutoring labs: the Student Academic Resource Center (SARC), the Math Lab, the Engineering Tutoring Lab and the Writing Center.

How do I request a Peer Tutor?

Peer Tutoring is a free service to all participating PRIME Scholars. Scholars seeking tutoring must be enrolled at UCF in the course in which tutoring is requested.

Are you interested in becoming a Peer Tutor with our program? As a Peer Tutor, you would be work approximately 8 hours per week at $8.00 / hour.

Qualifications

  • Minimum grade point average of 3.5
  • Junior or Senior level, {other qualified applicants may be considered}
  • Declared STEM Major
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of course related materials and major(s) and college
  • Knowledge of university academic resources
  • Ability to use a variety of study aids
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Positive attitude
  • Comfortable presenting to small groups
  • Must have a B or higher in the course being tutored

Responsibilities

  • Tutor math/engineering/or science course(s)
  • Establish coaching relationship with PRIME STEM students
  • Complete weekly tutor reports
  • Other duties as assigned
